ABOUT THE ARTIST

Donna Weigle was raised in the suburbs of Chicago and is one of eight children. With the encouragement of her parents, Donna began her creative journey at a very young age. She knit her first sweater and created her first article of clothing by the age of nine. Embroidery, crochet, quilting and crafting were a part of everyday life.

Art is truly Donna’s passion. While studying at Northern Illinois University, she met Greg Weigle, the “love of her life”. After graduating with a B.F.A. in Interior Design, Donna and Greg married and moved to Atlanta. Donna was an Interior Designer for Hendrick Associates for nearly ten years. Her entrepreneurial career began in 1990 when she founded Weigle Wearables, a company featuring handcrafted, whimsical jewelry which was sold in department stores throughout the country.

In 1997, Donna became interested in figurative sculpture. Donna created The Wonderful World of Weigle and focused on developing her sculpting skills in both cloth and clay. She has since created and sold thousands of whimsical figurative sculptures and is constantly experimenting with new techniques and materials.

Donna and Greg’s four children are very supportive of their creative mom and are often the inspiration behind her work, which continues to be fun, colorful and light-hearted….it’s truly art that makes you smile!

Welcome to her World!
